হাওড়া জেলার আমতা থানার অধীনে ঝিখিরা গ্রামে কাঁড়ার পাড়ায় একটি ঐতিহ্যশালী আটচালা মন্দির আছে। দক্ষিণমুখী এই মন্দিরের বিগ্রহ হিসাবে সীতানাথ (শালগ্রাম ) পূজিত হন। মন্দিরটি তে প্রতিষ্ঠাতা মিস্ত্রির নাম উল্লেখ না থাকলেও পারিপার্শ্বিক প্রমাণাদির মধ্যে দিয়ে মনে হয় ঝিখিরার অপর একটি মন্দির দামোদরজীউ মন্দিরের প্রতিষ্ঠাতা শিল্পী শুকদেব মিস্ত্রি এটি তৈরি করেছিলেন। প্রতিষ্ঠা লিপি দেখে বোঝা যায় ১৭০৫ শকাব্দে। ১৭৮৩ খ্রিস্টাব্দে এটি তৈরি হয়েছিল।
এই প্রতিষ্ঠা লিপিতে লেখা আছে "শুভমস্তু শকাব্দা ১৭০৫|২|২৮|৩২"
অর্থাৎ ১৭০৫ শকাব্দের পৌষ মাসের ৮ দন্ড ৩২ পলের সময় মন্দিরটি প্রতিষ্ঠিত হয়।এরকম প্রতিষ্ঠা সময়ে নির্দিষ্ট করে প্রতিষ্ঠা ফলক বিরল। দেওয়ালে বেশ কিছু টেরাকোটা সজ্জা আছে।
সংস্কার করার সময় মন্দিরটি রং করার ফলে টেরাকোটার মাধুর্য নষ্ট হয়েছে।
There is a traditional Atchala temple in Karar Para, Jhikhira village under Amta police station of Howrah district. The deity of this south-facing temple is Sitanath (Shalgram). Although the name of the founding architect is not mentioned in the temple, it seems from the surrounding evidence that it was built by the artist Shukdev Mistry, the founder of another temple in Jhikhira, the Damodarjiu Temple.
The foundation inscription shows that it was built in 1705 Shaka i.e. built in 1783 AD.
This foundation inscription reads "Shubhamastu Shakabda 1705|2|28|32"
That is, the temple was established on 8th Danda 32nd Pala of the month of Paush in 1705 Shaka.
Such a plaque specifying the time of foundation is rare. There are several terracotta decorations on the walls.
The beauty of the terracotta has been lost due to painting the temple during renovation.
