পশ্চিম মেদিনীপুর জেলার ঘাটাল ব্লকের অন্তর্গত সুলতানপুর গ্রামে একটি অতি প্রাচীন লক্ষ্মী জনার্দন মন্দির আছে। পঞ্চরত্ন মন্দিরটি পূর্বমুখী। কার্নিশের নিচে একটি প্রতিষ্টা ফলক থেকে জানা যায় মন্দিরটি ১২১৫ বঙ্গাব্দে অর্থাৎ ১৮০৮ সালে নির্মিত হয়েছিল।
মন্দিরের সম্মুখভাগের কার্নিশ থেকে পাদপিঠ পর্যন্ত সমস্ত জায়গায় প্রচুর টেরাকোটা ফলকের উপস্থিতি আছে। দশাবতার কৃষ্ণ লীলার নানা রকম কাহিনী এই ফলক গুলির মূল প্রতিপাদ্য বিষয়।
মন্দিরটি সংস্কার করে নতুনভাবে রং করার ফলে টেরাকোটার গরিমায় কিছুটা ঘাটতি দেখা দিয়েছে।
There is a very ancient Lakshmi Janardan temple in Sultanpur village of Ghatal block of Paschim Medinipur district. The Pancharatna temple faces east. A foundation plaque under the cornice indicates that the temple was built in 1215 Bengal, i.e. in 1808.
There are many terracotta plaques present everywhere from the cornice to the foot of the temple facade. The various stories of Krishna's lila (pastimes ) in the Dashavatar form the main theme of these plaques.
The temple has been renovated and repainted, which has somewhat diminished the glory of the terracotta.
