বিশিষ্ট মন্দির বিশেষজ্ঞ ডেভিড ম্যাককাচ্চন ( ১২-৮-১৯৩০ – ১২-১-১৯৭০) মেদিনীপুর জেলার চন্দ্রকোনায় পার্বতীনাথ মন্দিরের উল্লেখ করেছেন। ১৯০৮ খ্রীঃ নির্মিত মেদিনীপুর জেলার চন্দ্র কোনায় পার্বতীনাথ মন্দিরে ১৭ চূড়া বা সপ্তদশ রত্ন মন্দিরের অস্তিত্ব লক্ষ্য করা যায়। মন্দিরটির প্রথম তলার ছাদে চার কোনায় দুটি করে মোট আটটি এবং এর ওপরে অষ্ট কোণ আকৃতিতে প্রতি কোনায় একটি এবং একটি কেন্দ্রীয় চূড়া মিলে ১৭ রত্ন মন্দির সৃষ্টি হয়েছে। পশ্চিমবঙ্গে আপাতত এই একটি মন্দিরেরই অস্তিত্ব লক্ষ্য করা যায়।
Renowned temple expert David McCutcheon (1930-1972) draws attention to the Parvatinath Temple in Chandrakona, Medinipur district. Notably, this temple, built in 1908 AD, showcases a rare architectural configuration: the Seventeen Ratna or 17 Pinnacled temple.
The temple’s unique design is evident on the first floor’s roof, where eight ratnas are arranged in four corners of the roof and eight pinnacle on the octagonal shaped 2nd layer , accompanied by a central pinnacle. This configuration results in a total of 17 ratnas.
Significantly, the Parvatinath Temple remains the sole example of a Seventeen Ratna temple in West Bengal, making it a remarkable and singular architectural find.
