চৌকো বা আট কোনা ভিত্তি ভূমির উপরে মন্দির গুলির চূড়া বা রত্ন অংশটি গড়ে উঠত। সাধারণত চৌকো ভিত্তি ভূমির উপর গড়ে ওঠা মন্দিরটির চার কোনায় চারটি মোচা আকৃতি চূড়া পঞ্চরত্ন ঘরানার মত করে স্থাপিত হতো। চালার সংখ্যা বাড়িয়ে নবরত্ন আকৃতিতেও মোচার মতো এই চুড়াগুলি স্থাপিত হবার সম্ভাবনা ছিল।
The spire or ratna portion of the temple was typically constructed on a square or octagonal foundation. Often built on a square base, the four corners of the temple featured four spire shaped peaks, reminiscent of the Pancharatna style.
By increasing the number of chalas (roof segments), the design could evolve into a Navaratna configuration, with the spire-shaped peaks arranged in a nine-fold pattern, creating an intricate and ornate visual effect
