নদিয়া জেলার কৃষ্ণনগর শহরের মধ্যে বিখ্যাত আনন্দময়ী কালী মন্দিরটি অবস্থিত। প্রতিষ্ঠালীপির পাঠ অনুসারে ১৮০৪ খ্রিস্টাব্দে প্রতিষ্ঠিত হয়েছিল। স্থানীয় মানুষ এই জায়গাটাকে আনন্দময়ীতলা বলেন। সম্ভবত কৃষ্ণনগরের মহারাজা শ্রীমান গিরিশ চন্দ্রের অভিষেক উৎসব উপলক্ষে মন্দির স্থাপিত হয়।
মন্দিরের ভূমি সংলগ্ন অংশে চার লাইনের প্রতিষ্ঠা লিপিটি এইরকম -
" বেদাঙ্গেক্ষণগোত্রকৈরবকুলাধিপে শকে শ্রীযুতে
কৈলাসপ্রতিরূপকৃষ্ণনগরে শ্রীমৎগিরীশোৎসবে ।
নাম্নানন্দময়ী শুভেহহনি মহামায়া মহাকালভৃৎ
রাজ্ঞা শ্রীলগিরিশচন্দ্র ধরণীপালেণ সংস্থাপিতা।।"
প্রথম শব্দটি থেকে 'অঙ্কশ্য বামাগতি' নিয়মে প্রতিষ্ঠা কালটি নির্ধারণ করা হয় এইভাবে -
বেদাঙ্গ ৬ , ঈক্ষন (চোখ) ২ , গোত্র (পর্বত) ৭, কৈরবকুলাধিপ (চন্দ্র) ১
অর্থাৎ ১৭২৬ শকে।
দালান মন্দিরের ওপর চার চালা কাঠামো সহ এই অনিন্দ্য সুন্দর মন্দিরের তিন দিকে বারান্দা রয়েছে। মূল প্রবেশপথে পাঁচটি খিলান অবস্থান করছে। এর মধ্যে দুপাশের দুটি খিলান দেওয়ালে তুলে বন্ধ করা আছে। খিলান গুলি টেরাকোটা দ্বারা সজ্জিত।
দালানের ওপরে যে চারচালা পরিকাঠামটি আছে তার মুখভাগ এবং পার্শ্ব ভাগেও কিছু ফুলের টেরাকোটা অলংকরণ আছে।
সংস্কার এবং রং করার ফলে মন্দিরটির টেরাকোটা মাধুর্য অনেকাংশে নষ্ট হয়ে গেছে।
The famous Anandamayi Kali Temple is located in Krishnanagar town of Nadia district. According to the text of the foundation stone, it was established in 1804 AD. The local people call this place Anandamayitala. The temple was probably established on the occasion of the Abhishek festival of the Maharaja of Krishnanagar, Shriman Girish Chandra.
The four-line foundation inscription on the temple's ground surface reads as follows -
" Bēdāṅgēkṣaṇagōtrakairabakulādhipē śakē śrīyutē
kailāsapratirūpakr̥ṣṇanagarē śrīmaṯgirīśōṯsabē.
Nāmnānandamaẏī śubhēhahani mahāmāẏā mahākālabhr̥ṯ
rājñā śrīlagiriśacandra dharaṇīpālēṇa sansthāpitā.."
From the first word, the establishment period is determined by the 'Ankashya Bamagati' ( neumarical figures from right to left ) rule as follows -
Vedanga 6, Eekshan (eye) 2, Gotra (mountain) 7, Kairavakuladhipa (moon) 1
i.e. 1726 Saka.
This beautifully built temple with four 'chala' structures on the temple building has verandas on three sides. The main entrance has five arches. Out of these, two arches on either side are raised and closed on the wall. The arches are decorated with terracotta.
The four-tiered structure on top of the building also has some floral terracotta decorations on its facade and sides.
The temple's terracotta charm has been largely lost due to renovations and painting.
